CAREER
David is a Civil Engineer who grew up and was educated in Queensland including a BE(Hons) and PhD from University of Queensland. His work took him to Mount Isa, where he managed the office of McIntyre and Associates, reporting directly to John McIntyre, past EA National President. On his return to Brisbane in 1994 he joined Queensland Division Committee and subsequently served as President.

David worked in direct Risk Management and Project Management Office (PMO) leadership roles, both in the Australia and New Zealand regional operations of AECOM (a global Fortune 500 company listed on the NYSE) and subsequently as founding Chair of the Enterprise PMO for the global AECOM operations, which at that stage engaged 45,000 staff around the world.

Since leaving AECOM in 2013 he has practised as a project and program management consultant, providing strategic advice in the infrastructure sector and occasional expert witness services. David is the founder of DRAMEK Infrastructure Advisory, offering specialist advisory support in the engineering and infrastructure sectors, particularly in the fields of project procurement, delivery strategy, dispute resolution, and project and program management

He has a Professional Certificate in Arbitration from University of South Australia, and the Company Director’s Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has been statutory Director on the boards of five companies. He has published and presented widely on topics including risk, organisational project procurement, education, and structural engineering. He has also studied the French language and received a Diploma of French Language Studies (DELF B2) from the French Ministry of Education.

David is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland, where he also chairs the Civil Engineering Advisory Board and has lectured in Project Management to third- and fourth-year Civil Engineering students.

David is passionate about the profession of engineering and has a long history of contribution to Engineers Australia and the profession. In both his employment and his roles with EA he has striven for and implemented change to the status quo. His achievements and contribution to the profession of engineering have been recognised by Engineers Australia in his selection as Queensland Professional Engineer of the Year in 2011 and as an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia in 2013
