ARNEY, Arthur Edward MICE MWAIE (1864-1939)


After joining the Public Works Department (PWD) in 1896 as a Field Assistant in 1896, Arney was an Assistant Engineer in this Department in 1904, and in the Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage Department in 1910. A founding member of the Western Australian Institution of Engineers in 1910, he joined H. Oldham (q.v.) in the Agricultural Water Supply Branch of the Water Supply Department in the reorganisation of 1912, and was an Assistant Engineer in the Public works Department in the early 1920s under P.V. O'Brien (q.v.). Appointed Engineer for Irrigation and Drainage in 1924, he retired in 1925.
