Alinta Energy was founded in 2011 it is an Australian electricity-generating and gas-retailing private company owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. Alinta Energy was the overall winner of the engineering excellence award in 2018 for their Newman Battery Storage Project. The Newman Battery project is Western Australia's largest lithium-ion battery storage system. The battery is 35MW and is among the world's largest to be developed for industrial application. The project aims to improve the performance of the high-voltage network in the region that supplies power to major iron ore producers.
