Dr Stepien is Principal Engineer at ResTech and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle. He holds a BE(Hons) from the University of Newcastle and a PhD from the University of Sydney. A Chartered Professional Engineer, Fellow of Engineers Australia and Senior Member of IEEE, he has made significant contributions to electrical engineering and telecommunications. Dr Stepien is active within Engineers Australia, serving as Chair of the Information, Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering College in 2023, as well as previous leadership roles within the Newcastle Division and ongoing representation at the national level.

Professor Mahdi Jalili, a Professor of Electrical Engineering and AI at RMIT University, is recognised nationally and internationally for his pioneering works in complex systems, energy analytics and sustainable energy systems. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, an Australian Research Council (ARC) Industry Fellow and the Director of the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre. He is also Founder and Director of RMIT EV Living Lab, Australia’s only research facility dedicated to EV-gird integration. He has led many successful initiatives in collaboration with industry with more than $26M in research funding resulting in positive impacts to decarbonise energy and transport systems.
