BLATCHFORD, Colin Francis, BE AMIEAust (1908-1991)

Born on April 29, 1908 in the WA Goldfields, the son of Torrington Blatchford, who later became the Government Geologist, and his wife Annie Harriet Blatchford (nee Zahel).

After graduating from the University of Western Australia (BE in 1931), Colin Blatchford was awarded a free return passage to Europe. He worked on irrigation projects in Egypt and was elected an associate member of the Institution of Engineers Australia in 1937. In the late 1930’s he was living in London. He enlisted in the British Army and served in the Royal Engineers. After the war he continued to live and work in the United Kingdom.

He died at Claremont on June 6, 1991.
