Alfred William Tyree (1922 - 2013)

Alfred William Tyree, known as William or Bill. was born in New Zealand in 1921 and in 1938 moved to Australia.

He studied at Sydney Technical College and gained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

In 1947 he set up a small electrical engineering business in Sydney and this grew into a very large and profitable enterprise building transformers.

Among many honours and awards William Tyree was a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia from whom, in 1985, he received the Peter Nicholl Russell Medal and in 2012 the Engineering Excellence Award.

William Tyree died in 2013.
